I'm back baby!

Posted by Doumaaa - July 24th, 2021

After not being here for the past few years and having most of my stuff here hidden, I decided to publish most of it again and start adding some new songs as well.

During the past few years I made a living by playing music outside in the streets, working at a local theatre and now I'm studying music at the local conservatory in my hometown in the Czech Republic. I also have my own band now and we recently shifted from playing Irish traditional songs and folk-rock covers to playing our own songs - some of which started as ideas I put up here on NG a couple of years ago.

I hope I still have some old fans and buddies here and if not, well then I hope to meet some new ones. And if not, well what the heck, I'll be sharing my music anyway :)

You have a nice day,

Dom

In all honesty, this made my year! 2021 hasn't been all that kind to me so far.
I'm already listening to some of your latest uploads. Very nice stuff! :)
Looking forward to your musical future, my friend! Take care and have a good time! -Cy

Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad this news turned the tide for you. I hope it's a change for the better and wish you a more fun and satisfying second half of the year. Cya around TKay ;)

Did you say Czech Republic? What languages do you speak?

Well, Czech and English ;)

Ah, I was hoping for Russian :P I suppose we could mutually understand one another if we wrote or spoke veeeeeery slowly hahaha. English is probably a better use of our time though.

That's awesome. I'm always fascinated by the thousands of people connected by this quaint little thing many native speakers look down upon, our little lingua franca, English. Out of all the places you could have said, all the languages, were I meeting you in the street, Czech/English bilingual would be the last thing I'd expect. Bilingualism was rather rudimentary when I met Russian speakers in Latvia, despite them learning it in school, in addition to Latvian. Young people were always trying to learn English from me when they realized I was not in fact native. Would have never known had my companions not been very loud and very American LOL

Nicely said, and thank you for already teaching me a couple of new words ;) Well, in my case, I'd say I'm more Czech than American, though I did spend a couple of years of my youth in good ol' California...

Haha, how was it for you? I've done my time in Cali long enough, seems. Find myself missing the heat and the rain back home

As a kid I never wanted to come back, I loved it there. Coming home from school and hitting the pool... But over the years I got used to living in the Czech Republic with all its pros and cons, I love the countryside here, especially the Gratzen Mountains (Novohradské hory). How long did you spend in Cali?

@Doumaaa About three years. Moved there when I was 24, serving in the army. Gotta love the coastline, beaches upon beaches, big waves and wildlife that is practically tame but illegal to pet, haha. Probably the strangest thing I saw, since no one hunts, there are deer everywhere, in all the cities I've been to.

Dude I still remember listening to Jumpin Jellyfish in 2013 (almost 10 years ago) and absolutely LOVING it! I tried finding it on youtube many of times over the years and said "ah what the hell" and logged back into my old NG account. I rediscovered it on a little playlist I made a LONG time ago. Your work has reached someone over in the states =) Good to see you're still on here. Hope all is well

Thank you for sharing this and I'm glad to hear that! I've actually started my YouTube channel and I'm working on new songs and often "refurbishing" some old ideas I have here on NG, so if I get to Jumpin Jellyfish, I'll let you know ;) I'm currently working on a remake of my old song from here called Sadness. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and all the best.

I still have my old Walkman that has a couple of your songs on it. Always a blast to listen to it once and awhile even though my musical preference has changed. Keep up the good work dude and hello from Texas!

Hey man! It's great to hear from you after all these years. And I'm really happy you still enjoy my music. Thank you for the kind words and greetings from the Czech Republic ;)
